Helping a child who has a speech and language deal Helping a child who has a speech and language dealt requires us to think outside of the box. Most children are taught to use signs or sign language as a bridge to vocal communication. This is great but resist teaching the sign to “more” and instead teach 3 specific signs of items they love. This will help build their vocabulary and it will teach them how to request the specific item they want.
